The Rev. Dr. Mary Barber

The Rev. Dr. Mary Barber started at St Paul’s as half-time priest-in-charge in October 2021.

She graduated from Episcopal Divinity School (EDS) at Union Theological Seminary in May 2021 and was ordained a priest in September 2021. During her time at EDS at Union, Rev. Mary was on the Union Chapel Team, planning and leading ecumenical and interfaith services four days a week for students, faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as serving as a seminary intern at St. Edward the Martyr in East Harlem and Christ Church in Poughkeepsie.

Before getting the call to ministry, Rev. Mary had a twenty-year career as a psychiatrist, hospital administrator, and LGBTQ mental health advocate. She and her wife Alleyne Fraser, a surgeon, have lived in Newburgh for twenty years. They have two daughters, now in college and law school.
